Blizzard 2015

Due to circumstances that I'm not quite ready to discuss here, I returned last night from a short-notice trip to Connecticut where I have spent the last eight days running around like an insane person trying to wrap up some loose ends. I felt like a creep because, despite the fact that I was up to my elbows in necessary and important errands, I didn't tell anyone I was in town. Not the majority of my family, none of my friends and certainly not the internet. I did this in part because I didn't think it was worthwhile to tell anyone I would be around only to turn around and say that I would not be able to see them. I also didn't mention it simply for the fact that the ongoing issues are somewhat private and have taken up so much of my thoughts and time that I just didn't want to have to talk about it anymore. I didn't want to feel obligated to explain myself. So I kept quiet.

And even though the trip was a far cry from a vacation and not a social visit by any means, it still made me feel crummy and I still feel the need to explain myself. So I'm sending out a big fat I'M SORRY to the friends and family that I didn't see and to the ones that didn't know I was home. Please don't take it personally.

And because things generally do not go as planned, Connecticut up and had a blizzard while I was there. Not just snow - a blizzard. Sixteen inches and then some of frozen precipitate covered the yard, driveway and streets. Overall, not as bad as the blizzard we had a few years ago, which knocked out power for days and impeded the paths of emergency vehicles and plows alike, but still a nuisance because eight days is just not enough time when you have a very specific agenda.

Luckily for me, my travel was unaffected by the weather and I was able to return home as planned. Naturally, as cats are want to do, my fuzzykids did not even notice I was gone.

But now that I'm back I am aching for a good project to get my mind off things. I'm thinking some kind of Valentines Day decor is in order and maybe I'll try a new recipe for the SuperBowl this weekend. Who knows! I'm open for suggestions.

Here's to endless possibilities!

XOXO
