Thrift Shop Madness & Giveaway!

I don't know that I've ever mentioned my new found love of thrift shops, but in DIY land, there is little you can do to keep from becoming a bit obsessive about money-saving shopping techniques. I do a lot of crafts, most using inexpensive stuff that I have laying around or that I pick up from the dollar store, but every once and again I feel the urge to stretch my decorating/craft loving dollar just a bit further.

As of late, I am addicted to thrifting brass planters, mirrors, baskets and worst of all, picture frames. My picture frame hoarding has gotten so bad that I have more than twenty frames sitting in a pile on the floor in the living room waiting for me to commit and just hang them up already. Ideally I'd like to put up a gallery wall without a bunch of extra nail holes, so I'm going to wait until I've acquired just the right pieces before I take the plunge. Still, I've got to do something with my collection, stat. Especially because we're expecting company for dinner on Friday. They're going to think I'm a crazy person.

Although, let's face it, I am a little crazy, but who's keeping track?

Last weekend, I acquired three brass planters, three small silver trays, three baskets, two medium picture frames, one German china serving dish and a small rectangular mirror (and a partridge in a pear tree!). I also happened to pick up a few pretty little teacups, hidden behind some broken down buckets and plastic tableware in the home goods section of Goodwill. Sadly, the teacups are without saucers but that doesn't mean anything. I haven't decided what I'll do with all of them, but...

In celebration of 4000+ blog views, 250+ Pinterest followers, and just because I wanna, Castle DIY is having it's first giveaway!

There were five cups, and although I'd like to display them somewhere eventually, I'll probably only use four because: even numbers. Obviously. And yes, I know that's a decorating faux pas. So I decided to turn one into a cutesy little candle and give it away! Lucky you!

    1. I was sad there were only five, but I've seen plenty there before, so I will most certainly be on the lookout for more. I just wish I had somewhere to display them! But I've got an idea or two. :) I'll keep an eye out for some to decorate your new fancy house with!
