Surprise, Surprise!

This past Friday, Matt and I decided to meet up at our favorite walking place after work. The views there are lovely and we almost always see a critter or two. We're on an endless hunt for an alligator and the weather was beautiful so it was a perfect day for walking. We were coming around a corner and I saw a guy taking pictures of a family. As we started to pass he asked if he could please take our photo for a photography project at the local tech school. Of course I said yes! Why not?

So we're standing there, and I'm posing like an idiot, and I turn to look at Matt, and then this happened:

Which was followed immediately by this:

And this!

And I am elated! It was a total, shocking surprise that I absolutely did not see coming. The "photo project" fellow, who's name I learned is Tony, is a friend of Matt's from work. Sneaky, sneaky.

What made it so surprising was that Matt has fake proposed to me at least three separate times. He's used things like rock salt and small chunks of glass from the side of the road and I always give him a hard time for being such a schmuck. So many of our friends are getting married right now, and while we've discussed it before, I just assumed that this was in the distant future. So when I turned and saw him down on one knee, I laughed and told him to get up and that it wasn't funny! This guy is trying to take pictures for class, duh! There's actually a video of this in which I very obviously spazz out when I think he's just messing around. I'm not going to show it to you, at this point I'm only willing to admit that it exists.

Nevertheless, what this means for the blog is... basically nothing. I'm still going to DIY my home improvements to death, it'll just be a tighter budget. Also, I apologize in advance for wedding themed posts. Actually I don't. This is just too exciting!

Eek! I can't wait to marry this man!

  1. Congratulations! How exciting! And love the cute story! Props to him for even having someone there to photograph it!

    1. Thank you! It was so perfect! And the photographer totally ad-libbed the story which made it even more believable. So good! Best day ever. :)

  2. I still love watching the video, it's the best and makes me smile!

    1. Me too! I have watched it 20 times already and it makes me tear up every time!

  3. Planning for a wedding seems easy but it is quite difficult to find the right wedding venues. The manager at this place was so wonderful, personable, and responsive. We received the best possible service on our wedding day.

  4. I like the post format as you create user engagement in the complete article. It seems round up of all published posts. Thanks for gauging the informative posts.
